1. Who we are

Helix Music is the operator of this website and the developer of the HelixChords plugin, and is the data controller for your personal data. For any privacy questions, contact us at privacy@helixmusic.com.

2. Data we collect

We only collect what we need to sell, deliver and support HelixChords:

  • Order & trial data — your email address, name (if provided), licence key, country, and the products you purchased or trialled. Payment card details are handled by our payment provider, not by us (see section 5).
  • Support data — the contents of emails or messages you send us, and any details you share to resolve an issue.
  • Newsletter data — your email address, if you choose to subscribe to product news and updates.
  • Usage & device data — collected automatically through analytics and cookies when you visit the website: pages viewed, approximate location (from IP), browser/device type, and referral source.

We do not knowingly collect special categories of data (e.g. health, political or biometric data).

3. How we use your data

  • To process your purchase or free trial and deliver your download link and licence key.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • To handle refunds under our money-back guarantee and meet tax/accounting obligations.
  • To send product news, updates and offers — only if you subscribed, and you can opt out at any time.
  • To measure and improve how the website performs (analytics) and, where applicable, to show relevant advertising.
  • To detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse or security issues.

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

  • Performance of a contract — to deliver the plugin, licence and support you purchased.
  • Consent — for the newsletter, non-essential cookies and advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep our service secure, prevent fraud and understand how the site is used.
  • Legal obligation — to keep transaction records for tax and accounting law.

5. Who we share your data with

We never sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run the business:

  • Payment & checkout (Merchant of Record): Lemon Squeezy processes payments, issues invoices, handles sales tax/VAT and manages refunds. They act as the seller of record and process your payment and billing data under their own privacy policy.
  • Analytics: our website analytics provider, to produce aggregated usage statistics.
  • Advertising: ad/marketing platforms, where you have consented to advertising cookies.
  • Email & support: our email and helpdesk tools, to deliver licences, newsletters and support replies.

We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

6. Cookies & analytics

The website uses cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies are required for the site and checkout to work. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set with your consent, which you can give or refuse through our cookie banner and change at any time.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may stop working.

7. How long we keep your data

  • Order and licence records: for as long as your licence is active and as long as required by tax law afterwards (typically several years).
  • Support messages: for as long as needed to resolve your issue and a reasonable period after.
  • Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics data: for a limited period defined by our analytics provider.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location (including under the EU/EEA GDPR), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data or complete incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. unsubscribe from the newsletter).
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. How we protect your data

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — such as encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls and trusted processors — to keep your data safe. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and review our practices regularly.

10. International transfers

Some of our providers may process data outside your country, including outside the EU/EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data.

11. Children

HelixChords is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website.
